Common Microsoft 365 Email Issues and How to Fix Them

This guide covers common Microsoft 365 email issues and explains how to troubleshoot sign-in problems, Outlook errors, locked accounts, and setup on new computers.

Common Problems and Solutions

1. Incorrect Password Error Despite Using the Correct Credentials

If Outlook reports that your password is incorrect even though you believe your credentials are correct, try signing in through the web first.

  1. Try signing in with your email address and password.

  2. Check whether you can access your account.

This helps determine whether the problem is related to your account or your email client.

2. Outlook Doesn't Work, but Webmail Does

If you can access your email through a web browser but Outlook isn't working:

  1. Restart Outlook.

  2. If the issue continues, remove your email account from Outlook and add it again.

  3. Try signing in through the Microsoft 365 web version to confirm that your account is working.

3. Your Account Is Locked

If your account is locked:

  1. Wait 15–30 minutes.

  2. Try signing in again.

  3. If you still can't access your account, contact our support team.

4. Setting Up Email on a New Computer with a Basic License

If you're setting up Microsoft 365 email on a new computer, try Outlook Classic instead of New Outlook.

Outlook Classic is recommended in this guide as a more stable option for Microsoft 365 accounts.

You can find installation instructions on Microsoft Support.
