Sign in via Outlook on a Computer

There are three different versions of Outlook available.

Outlook on the Web

  • No installation required

  • Always up to date

  • Works on any computer

  • Access via office.com

Outlook Classic (Recommended)

Outlook Classic is the traditional desktop version that has been used for more than 20 years.

It is stable and works best with Microsoft 365.

Add your account

  1. Open Outlook Classic

  2. Click Add Account

  3. Enter your email address

  4. Select Account type: “Exchange” if prompted

  5. Enter your password

  6. Complete MFA if enabled

This is the version we recommend.

New Outlook (Windows)

New Outlook is a modern version that is often preinstalled on new computers.

Important limitation

Microsoft 365 accounts (for example Business Basic) cannot always be used as the first or primary account in New Outlook.

This means:

  • You may need to add a personal account first (for example Outlook.com or Gmail)

  • After that, you can add your Microsoft 365 account

If problems occur, we recommend either:

  • Installing Outlook Classic

  • Or using the web version

Sign in via the Outlook App (Mobile)

We recommend using the Microsoft Outlook mobile app.

Install the app

  • iPhone: App Store

  • Android: Google Play

Search for: Microsoft Outlook

  1. Open the Outlook app

  2. Tap Add Account

  3. Select Account type: “Exchange” if prompted

  4. Enter your email address

  5. Enter your password

  6. Complete MFA verification

The Outlook app allows you to:

  • Send and receive email

  • Manage your calendar

  • Sign in and verify your account

Important Information

  • Microsoft 365 accounts cannot be the primary account in the New Outlook for Windows.

  • If you experience problems, we recommend using the web version via office.com.

  • If you cannot log in, first test the web version to confirm that the account works.
