How the Checkout Process Works in Your Online Store

This guide explains the steps customers follow to complete a purchase in your online store, from entering their information to receiving an order confirmation.

Checkout Steps

1. Customer Information

After the customer adds products to their cart and clicks Go to checkout, they enter:

  • Contact information

  • Delivery address

An order summary is also displayed so the customer can review what they are purchasing.

2. Shipping

The customer selects one of the shipping options you have configured in your store settings.

They can also:

  • Enter a discount code, if available

  • See how the discount affects the order total

3. Payment

The customer selects their preferred payment method to complete the purchase.

The available payment methods depend on which payment providers you have activated in your store, such as Klarna, Stripe, or PayPal.

4. Confirmation

After the payment is completed:

  • The customer sees a confirmation page indicating that the order was successful.

  • A confirmation email is sent to the email address provided during checkout.

As the store owner, you also receive an email notification about the new order.

To view and process the order:

  1. Log in to your account.

  2. Go to Store > Orders.

  3. Open the order to view its details and begin processing it.

Summary

The checkout process guides customers through customer information, shipping, payment, and confirmation. Once an order is completed, both the customer and store owner receive confirmation, and the order is available under Store > Orders.
