How to Create a Table

How to Create a Table in Sitebuilder

Updated this week

🧱 Guide: Create a Table in Basekit Sitebuilder

1️⃣ Add a Text Widget

Open your page in Basekit Sitebuilder

Click β€œAdd Content”

Select Text (the text widget)

Place it in the area where you want the table to appear.

2️⃣ Create the Table in the Text Editor

Tables are created in the text editor using the following tool:

πŸ‘‰ Click inside the text editor
πŸ‘‰ Click the Table icon on the far right

Then choose:

  • Number of columns

  • Number of rows

Click Create Table

The table will then appear inside the text widget, just like in a standard word processing program.

3️⃣ Edit the Content

Once the table has been inserted:

βœ” Click in a cell and start typing
βœ” Select text β†’ format it

  • Bold

  • Italic

  • Links

βœ” Copy/paste from Excel or Google Sheets
(Note: formatting may need to be adjusted)

🎨 Table Design

Since the table is placed inside the text widget, the Design settings you have selected for the site will control the styling.

You cannot manually change the color or font of the text inside the table.

Currently, you also cannot adjust:

  • Background color

  • Borders

  • Width

  • Height

  • Text size

πŸ“± Responsiveness

Tables in Basekit are generally mobile responsive:

βœ” The table scales down
βœ” Text wraps within cells

⚠ On very narrow screens, wide tables may become difficult to read.

πŸ’‘ Tip: Limit the number of columns or split the data into several smaller tables.

⚠ Limitations in Basekit

❌ There is no separate table panel like in Word or Excel
❌ Advanced functions such as sorting or filters are not available
❌ Styling may be limited by the selected theme

Basekit therefore creates simple, static tables β€” perfect for price lists, comparisons, or structured information, but not as spreadsheets.

πŸ“Œ Checklist β€” Before Publishing

βœ” Is the text readable on mobile?
βœ” Is the header row clearly visible?
βœ” Does copying from Excel work correctly?

πŸ’¬ Summary

Basekit uses the Text widget + the table function in the text editor to create tables 🧾

You can:

βœ” Create tables
βœ” Format text

However:

⚠ Advanced styling requires HTML editing
⚠ Features such as sorting or calculations are not available.
